Postgraduate Education in Medical Imaging & Radiation Oncology

The online presentations of the results of the treatment planning exercises followed by discussion time make the learning curve steep.

Although it was the first experience of its kind with an online course, I consider this online VMAT course format, organized by Inholland University of Applied Sciences, very easy, effective, economical and stimulating.

This course includes a review of the state of the art in IMRT/VMAT. The structure of the online lessons is based on several patient cases. Each one gives the participants a new approach to the technique and made us improve ourselves. The online presentations of the results of the treatment planning exercises followed by discussion time make the learning curve steep. If you’re already familiar with IMRT/VMAT you can learn a lot of tips to improve even more your plans, and if you are not familiar at all, then after this course you’ll be able to produce good plans and in the end to put this experience in patients treatments. The evaluation part pushes you to study, think and solve some case situation that can help you a lot in the real treatments. Also, this experience will guide me to help my younger medical physicist colleagues.

Regarding the activity of the lecturers, I can send congratulations to everyone! All respect for the advice you gave us. I think I was left with a lot of useful information after this course. The lecturers were very good at what they do, they shared their own experience, they showed a very open personality, a positive attitude, they are people from whom you have something to learn and they also inspire confidence and courage.

I hope this such useful online courses will continue to be organized for medical physicists, radiation technologists and oncologists, for maintaining or improving their level of experience. Thank you!
